Red, White & Beagle is an annual charity fundraiser hosted by the Beagle Freedom Project’s DC7 — a group of fosters and adopters who brought home 7 beagles from a rescue in Virginia in July 2013. You may remember seeing stories of the DC7 after these 7 beagles, named after our Founding Fathers, were released. They had all spent their whole lives in research labs and had never walked on grass, marked a fire hydrant or played in a park! They are now living all around the East Coast, and it’s amazing the progress they’ve made in a very short time. PawsGo is happy to support their efforts.
I heard and saw these Beagles years ago, but just accidentally came across your site….. I’m so happy for these little Beagle angels! I was involved in fostering with our local humane society for 5 years, until my health took an unexpected surprise turn…..I’ve had dogs all my life, but my true love was Aussies when I got my first Aussie mix in 1999. Alex, my best friend, loyal and true, for 13 years when I suddenly found out she had lung cancer! I never smoked a day in my life! But anyway I had to make that awful decision that very day….I was devastated……I have her picture tattooed on my arm. The only tattoo I ever wanted or even considered, I suppose because dogs are truly the only reliable thing we really have in this thing called life. Fast forward 2011, a young ALL Beagle mix came to my house in 2011. I fostered, but he was such a handful he was getting returned from adopters, even though they knew of his energy and mischief. Obviously Buster B was meant to be with me because I decided to adopt him. He is still a little mess, but my beautiful mess and he has truly saved me. Seriously. Beagles are absolutely adorable! I do still love my Aussies though, and adopted my Aussie mix Celeste from a humane society nearby. Shes a beautiful, light red merle and a sweet, sensitive soul, but would defend me to the death…..i know. Thank you so much for all you do for these angels.
